A Summer with Our Lady: Mary’s Queenship
August 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us to celebrate the August Marian feast days and prepare for the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Mary at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. Explore more deeply the importance of Mary and her message, both for our own spiritual lives and for the world.
Rich May, a St. Clare parishioner and a published member of the Mariological Society of America, is the presenter.
August 14th – The Assumption of Mary
We’ll discuss the theological foundations and historical development for this teaching, tying it to the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Did Mary actually die? Where? What Old Testament evidence can we provide to support this teaching? We’ll also discuss the application of this teaching for our spiritual lives.
August 21st – The Queenship of Mary
Drawing from both Scriptures and Tradition, we’ll explore the basis for this Marian title. We’ll discuss the teachings of the popes that serve as the theological foundation for the practice of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, linking it to the Kingship of Christ. In a complementary fashion, Mary’s Queenship, understood in the context of Christ’s Kingship, shares in His reign and provides support for Consecration to her Immaculate Heart.
August 28th – A Primer on Our Lady of Fatima
With a year dedicated to Fatima, we’ll explore the important aspects of the Fatima Apparitions and their meaning for us today.
