Brave the Wilderness is a week long, overnight camp for middle school students hosted and put together by several parishes from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Held at Forest Glen in Huntsville, Texas, Brave gives students an opportunity for teens to meet members of other local parishes while building lasting relationships with them and with Christ. Camp activities include zipline, rockwall, swimming, competition games, nightly talks, prayer experiences, Adoration, daily Mass and so much more!
Brave the Wilderness is open to students enrolled in 7th-8th grades as well as 9th-12th for the 2023-2024 school year. Transportation, food & a t-shirt are provided (however we are separating the transportation cost this year from the base price). Spots are limited so register and reserve your today by contacting Elizabeth Selmarten and filling out the form below!
Please note we have changed registration (only 7th & 8th grade) and pricing a bit from previous years. This is due to Forest Glen increasing their base cost in order to accommodate inflation and rising costs as well as the amount of people dropping across all parishes at the last minute and logistical concerns. We've also decided to go with just one name for the camp and drop the Expedition name. Please know there will still be clear seperation by grades for activities and cabin assignments. We are also being very strict with deadlines, and separating the base cost and the transportation costs.
The initial payment will be a $100 deposit. Full payment of the $435 base cost and the last day to drop is April 1, 2024. If you haven't paid the full amount by the April 1 deadline, you will be dropped unless you have contacted and work something out with me prior. Please note that both the deposit and full amount are non-refundable. here will be an additional transportation fee closer to the date, however, efforts will be made to fundraise enough to competely cover at least the transportation cost. Scholarships and fundraising are available so do not let money be an issue.
Chaperones (21+) and logistics (adults 18-20) are free but will need to register below as well as do a background check and attend camp-specific training later in Spring 2024.
Please note there will be a meeting for parents and retreatants closer to the camp date.
