What is RCIA?

RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.  It is the process by which people become Catholic.  In this context, “adult” means anyone who has reached the age of reason/discretion, that is, 7 years or older.

The RCIA process is for you if…

  1. You are not baptized but are interesting in learning more about becoming Christian, OR
  2. You have been baptized in a non-Catholic ecclesial community (e.g. Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, etc.) but are interested in joining the Catholic Church, OR
  3. You have been baptized as a Catholic, but you never received the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation.

Please click on the appropriate link to learn more about the process for Adults (ages 18 and up) or for Children and Youth (ages 7 to 17).
