Retreat Requirement for Confirmation:In order to fufill the requirements set by the diocese, Year 2 teens will attend one Confirmation Retreat as well as one additional retreat. This year, in order to abide by the necessary safety requirements, the Confirmation Retreat will be a day retreat hosted at St. Clare's.

Proof of Attendance
- If you are unable to attend the St. Clare's Confirmation Retreat and plan to attend a retreat elsewhere, please notify Elizabeth Selmarten prior to registering and submit a Proof of Attendance Form (See below) upon returning.
- Those attending a St. Clare's retreat do not need to submit a Proof of Attendance form. Attendance will be verified at the retreat.

Upon returning from your retreat, please submit this form either physically through the Parish Office or via virtual upload to the Confirmation Google Classroom.

PRAISE 2021As Catholics we need to have a relationship with God. But how do we go about forming a relationship with Him? Well one way that the Church teaches us to form a relationship with God is to give him PRAISE, but how do we do that? Through an acronym of course!
Praise Reconciliation Adoration Invite Sacrifice Eurcharist
This retreats invites teens to join in community with one another and further explore and develop their relationship with God and the church through the different tenets of the PRAISE acronym and our theme for this year.
PRAISE is a three day high school retreat for incoming freshmen to confirmation year 2 candidates. This year's retreat will be held at St. Clare's July 8-10 from 8:00 to 4:30 pm and will end with the Saturday 4:30 Vigil Mass on July 10. Sign-out will follow mass.Ephesians 1:11-12
In him we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the One who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will, so that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ.
- The total cost per retreatant is $60 and includes lunch, snacks, and a retreat shirt. Please drop off the completed registration form (See below) and a check made out to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church no later than Monday, June 28.
- We are still in need of volunteers to join the PRAISE team for both background work and more. If you or someone you know is available to help in some capacity, please notify Elizabeth Selmarten. Volunteers over 18+ must have an active Virtus Certification or Safe Environment training to assist with the retreat while those under 18 must complete the Jeremiah 1:7 training by the retreat.

Archdiocesan Youth Conference (AYC)
The Archdiocesan Youth Conference (AYC) gathers over 2,500 participants - both youth and adults - from all over the local Church. AYC is the largest evangelizing event for older adolescents that the Office of Adolescent Catechesis and Evangelization hosts annually.
Participants will experience the diversity of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston! They will have the opportunity to share and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ through daily Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, confession, dynamic talks, and other prayer experiences.
This year’s theme is based on John 18:37- “For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.” This summer we will get the chance to hear from some wonderful speakers, musicians, priests, and religious as we grow in community, have some fun, and Seek the Truth.
This year the conference will be held at The Hilton in Downtown Houston from July 30th through August 1st. AYC is open to incoming freshman through outgoing seniors for the 2020-2021 school year. Registration is due July 1, 2021 and after July 1, 2021, registration fees are non-refundable due to hotel contractual agreements.
How do we register?- To register, please go to AYC Cvent site and select “Youth Registration.” As per diocesan guidelines, youth registration must be done by the parent and not parish personnel as the online registration is the official permission form and a legal document. When you sign up, you will need the voucher code specific to St. Clare of Assisi’s Youth Group. That code is: 7461SCOA21.
- If you’d like to join in the fun as a chaperone, please let me know! You will also need to register. We will strictly adhere to the 10:1 ratio of chaperones to youth, not including me.
How do we register for the hotel?
- All Hotel Reservations are made through the Office of Adolescent Catechesis and Evangelization.
How much is the 2021 Archdiocesan Youth Conference?
- Conference registration for the 2021 Archdiocesan Youth Conference is $155 per person. Late Registration is $165 per person.
- The hotel room costs are as follows: Hilton Americas Double Queen or King per room/for 2 nights (including tax) – $300.00 so the average cost when 4 to a room is $75 per person
- The total average cost per young person for weekend (hotel when 4 to a room/ and registration fee only) is $230.00
- This number may increase if we can not fill 4 to room
What is included in the Registration Fee minus housing?
- Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, conference sessions, and activities
What is NOT included in the Registration Fee?
- The cost does not cover transportation to and from the Archdiocesan Youth Conference, Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, Sunday breakfast, parking or a t-shirt (bring additional money for food and additional purchases).
How about AYC Registration & Hotel Check-in?
- Conference registration will begin at 3:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Hilton Americas Hotel. If you arrive before that time, know that you will have to wait to get your conference materials.
- Hotel Check-In will also begin at 3:00 p.m.
Who may drive to the Archdiocesan Youth Conference?
- Only adults 21 and over are permitted to drive minors to the Archdiocesan Youth Conference and are in compliance with the Archdiocesan Transportation Policy. For safety and liability reasons, no current high school students or 2021 graduates will be permitted to drive to the conference!
