I am excited to announce the Youth Ministry will have the opportunity to take a field trip to St. Mary's Catholic Center, home of the Texas A&M University Aggie Catholics, in College Station, TX on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024.
Teens and chaperones will have the opportunity to be exposed to what Catholic college ministry looks like as well as get to experience the sacraments at the newly dedicated St. Mary’s Church Building, which features seating for 1,500, a prominent dome, and a bell tower. We will also get to talk to current Catholic college students, including one of our own St. Clare of Assisi Youth Ministry alumni as well as other college students from the Bay Area Deanery.
The tentative plan is to start the weekend by attending First Friday Adoration together on Friday night together followed by dinner at St. Clare's in which we will go over the itinerary and expectations. Then Saturday morning, everyone meet at St. Clare's at 9:00 am and drive up together to College Station, with a planned stop at Buc-ee's. During our duration in College Station, we will have a tour of St. Mary's Catholic Center, talk to current students, have an opportunity for confession, and then round out our time there with the Saturday 5:30 pm Vigil Mass before heading back to St. Clare's.
The cost is FREE apart from bringing spending money for food and Buc-ee's.
